One night will never leave Donald.

Landing in the Falklands after weeks at sea, Donald and his Scots Guard comrades were tasked with taking Mount Tumbledown, a crucial highpoint on the approach to the Falklands’ capital. The battle was brutal – nine hours of vicious hand-to-hand fighting, all while climbing a mountain in the freezing darkness.

Eight of Donald’s brothers were killed during that exhausting, hellish night. Yet it wasn’t until he got home that he realised the legacy of Tumbledown would shape the rest of his life.

Donald struggled to settle and found himself ‘getting into trouble’. He was finally diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). He left the Army, but soon ended up homeless, sleeping in parks and graveyards.
